Phillip Charles Phillip Charles has been involved in the music business as a Producer/Engineer/Bassist and Dj for over a decade. Working with labels such as Sony, Epic, Columbia,Warner Bros and a host of various independent and underground labels such as Shaboom,Bedrock,TheEnd,Yoshitoshi,!K7,Ovum,CP and the like, Philllip has explored virtually every genre of music known to listeners in todays market. As a remixer and producer, Charles has put his blend of crafty invention( stemming from his use of analog and digital hybrids) to create a palette of sonic inclinations reflective of past and present. Through experimentation and vision, the 37 year old has proven to listeners worldwide why the creations from Retrofonixlabs have stood the test of time. Although in todays climate the line of distinction between commercial and underground has become translucent, Charles' endeavors to merge the lines and imprint a sound that becomes integral to the mainstay of EDM and a vital component to its survival for years to come. As a Dj ,Charles is known for the more Earthy, drum oriented sounds of house music. On a given night a set list may be comprised of tech house, tribal, prog and a blend of edits and original music. In recent years Charles has opened for such djs as Chris fortier, Jimmy Van M, Q6, Dj Villo(Balance record pool)and others. In 2005 the Dj side of Charles will be further explored, as he starts off the new years eve in Antigua, Guatemala, then central american mini tour in January/Feb 2006.
